Job Description

About SEC Fantasy

THE PROBLEM: College football fans got left behind. Fantasy sports was built for the NFL. The apps, the formats, the culture — all of it. If you're an SEC fan who lives and breathes Saturday football, you've been an afterthought. A checkbox. A "college mode" buried in a menu somewhere. Meanwhile, sports betting is eating the industry alive. What used to be about bragging rights and trash talk with your friends has turned into anxiety-fueled parlays and deposit bonuses. The fun got stripped out. We think that's wrong.

THE VISION: A tailgate that never ends. SEC Fantasy is the place college football fans come to relax, bicker, and have a great time — the way fandom was meant to be. No real money on the line. No predatory deposit screens. Just you, your friends, and the beautiful chaos of SEC football.

About Our Brand: With a "Lovable Burnout" tone, SEC Fantasy captures the tribalism of the South. We are like a fifth-year senior in digital form: opinionated, cynical, hilarious. We're looking for students who live and breathe SEC sports to help us bring back the fun in fandom.

  • Women and minorities are encouraged to apply because many SEC fans are underrepresented and we are determined to solve that.

About the Roles

This is an unpaid internship, but we do not believe in being paid in ‘experience.’ Interns will leave with tangible skills, portfolio-ready work, direct mentorship and a long-term support system that extends far beyond the summer. Our main priority is developing a kind, community-based, out-of-the-box and happy group of SEC fans who want to help create a nationwide tailgate.

We are looking for students who are innovative, willing to take risks and excited to bring unconventional ideas to life.

This summer, we are building a team of bold, creative interns through our SEC Fantasy Marketing and Social Media internship programs. We are specifically looking for freshmen and sophomores who want to spend their summer experimenting with the concepts they’ve just begun to learn about in their classes.

There are three Internship Tracks: Marketing, Social Media and Software Engineering.

Marketing Team Interns

We are seeking 8 Marketing Interns across SEC campuses to lead on-the-ground experiential marketing and brand awareness efforts. Interns will play a direct role in driving user acquisition, building campus partnerships, and executing creative marketing activations ahead of the fall football season, and therefore must be able to commit 10 hours a week. This hands-on, full-time mentorship experience allows students to execute campus marketing campaigns, create and test content, analyze performance and contribute directly to company growth.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute on-campus experiential marketing activations.
  • Design and distribute posters, flyers, stickers and referral materials.
  • Support giveaways, tabling events and pop-up brand experiences.
  • Capture photo/video content from activations for social media use.
  • Identify new campus marketing opportunities and partnerships.
  • Collaborate with Social Media Interns to align messaging and campaigns.
  • Provide feedback on company strengths, gaps, and growth opportunities.
  • Assist in preparing marketing materials for Fall kick-off.

Professional Development & Portfolio Support

Because this internship is designed to support early-career growth, interns will receive direct guidance on turning their work into professional portfolio pieces. Interns will receive coaching on how to:

  • Document campaign planning and execution.
  • Build portfolio-ready case studies.
  • Translate internship work into resume-ready bullet points.
  • Present metrics and results on LinkedIn and personal websites.
  • Package experiential marketing work into professional deliverables.

Interns will leave the program with at least 2 portfolio-ready marketing case studies.

Weekly Deadlines (May 13 – August 7)

Interns must attend weekly meetings and bring:

  • 1 short-term experiential marketing idea (~ 1 week execution).
  • 1 long-term experiential marketing idea (~ 3–4 week campaign cycle).
  • 1 fun, experimental or high-risk creative idea.
  • Proof of on-campus promotion (photos, videos, or placement verification).

Expectations

  • Strong communication and collaboration across teams.
  • Ability to execute ideas independently once approved.
  • Willingness to test creative ideas and learn from performance data.
  • Professional brand representation on campus and online.

Performance Goal

  • Minimum 50 sign-ups per intern via personal referral code.

Timeline

May 13: Program Start

Onboarding, brand training, campaign planning.

May 18 — June 30

Campaign testing, campus activation rollout, data tracking.

July 1 — August 3

Scale high-performing activations, build Fall marketing toolkit.

August 7: Program End

Final reporting + Portfolio deliverables + Fall campaign handoff.

Social Media Interns

We are seeking 2 Social Media Interns to support content creation, trend research and performance tracking across company platforms. Interns will help translate on-campus marketing into engaging digital storytelling while helping grow audience and app adoption, and therefore must be able to commit 10 hours a week. This hands-on, full-time mentorship experience allows students to execute campus marketing campaigns, create and test content, analyze performance and contribute directly to company growth.

Responsibilities

  • Create and schedule social media content (3–5 posts per week on each platform).
  • Write copy for all assigned content.
  • Develop trend-based content aligned with brand voice.
  • Develop evergreen (non-trend) content to support long-term growth.
  • Analyze post performance and platform analytics.
  • Collaborate with Marketing interns to highlight campus activations.
  • Contribute to Fall campaign planning and content bank creation.
  • Identify new content opportunities and brand growth areas.

Professional Development & Portfolio Support

Interns will receive direct coaching on building professional content portfolios and translating social media work into career-ready materials. Interns will receive guidance on how to:

  • Build social media campaign case studies.
  • Compile and present analytics and growth metrics professionally.
  • Create portfolio-ready content showcases.
  • Translate content creation work into resume achievements.
  • Package campaign performance into LinkedIn and website portfolio sections.

Interns will leave the program with at least 2 portfolio-ready social media campaign case studies.

Weekly Deadlines (May 13 – August 7)

Interns must attend weekly meetings and bring:

  • 5 ready-to-post content pieces (including copywriting).
  • 4 trend-based content ideas relevant to brand or audience.
  • 3 evergreen content ideas.
  • 1 analytics-based performance insight.
  • 3 experimental or creative campaign ideas.

Expectations

  • Ability to balance creativity with data-driven decision making.
  • Strong time management.
  • Professional brand representation online.

July 1 — August 3

Scale high-performing content + build Fall content library.

August 7: Program End

Final reporting + Portfolio deliverables + Fall content handoff.

Software Engineering Intern

This is for the builders who spent their Saturday mornings in the student section and their Sunday mornings debugging side projects. We’re looking for two Engineering Interns who are ready to stop watching tutorials and start shipping real code to real fans.

Hiring: Engineering Interns (x2)

Stack: React Native, Firebase, Expo

Commitment: 5hrs/week | May 13 – Aug 7

Comp: Unpaid / Portfolio-First

THE REALITY CHECK

This is an unpaid, high-stakes internship. No paycheck. Apply only if you believe owning the architecture of an SEC brand will further your career more than the hours you put in. We provide the platform; you provide the execution.

THE MISSION: Build the Product

This isn't a tutorial; it’s real code shipping to thousands of fans.

• Full Autonomy: Propose, build, and ship your own features.

• Weird Codebases: You must be self-motivated enough to jump into the deep end without a life jacket.

• Direct Collab: Work side-by-side with founders on product direction.

WHO YOU ARE

• SEC Obsessed: Knowledge of the conference is non-negotiable.

• Product-Forward: You have ideas and the intensity to execute them with zero hand-holding.

• Technical: Comfortable in (or learning) React Native/Expo/Firebase.

HOW TO APPLY

1 The Proof: Link your GitHub or a project you’re proud of.

2 The Take: Give us your most unhinged SEC hot take.

3 The Why: Why does this role move the needle for your career?

Apply at and email ***email_hidden*** if you have any questions (or just want to say hi)!
